I got this okuma reel in which was just serviced by someone. It got to me as the 2 speed was not working, upon opening the pictures tell the tale.
The reel has a lot of corrosion inside on metal and gearing, the main gear shaft locating bush was fitted upside down and was busy coming out which would have destroyed the gearing on the first fish, the one dog spring was damaged and the dog was not working but was running against the dog plate all the time, the drag washers were very badly corroded, the entire 2 speed mechanism inside the main gear shaft was corroded stuck hence no gear speed variation. Yet this reel had just been serviced.
Have a look at the before pictures, and compare them to the after ones also. This was quite and intense job and not straight forward servicing.
I am happy to report i was able to fix the reel and it was smooth as butter after, the owners smile when he checked it by turning the handle and selecting the 2 speed which now works as it should brought a smile even to my face.
