Jonathan's Reel Repairs ,Services & Upgrades Good afternoon All, please enjoy this post. Regards Jonathan.
Good afternoon one and all.
It is nearly tuna time again and i would like to show you what the Penn International 50 VSW looks like.
This one took a bit of abuse but they can and are built really well. All the white areas you see is corrosion from salt that is eating away at what ever it contacts.
Pay careful attention to the areas mentioned then compare them to when i finished this reel. This will give you a good idea of the quality of my craftsmanship.
What do you get in this reel? A solid aluminium cage and thick side plates for heat dissipation when drags get hot while fighting huge fish for extended periods. A double drag plate system, one on each spool side which carries that heat away from the drag to the metal effectively, the double drag also ensures better drag function for longer periods and lighter lines can be fished with finer settings. A two speed stainless steel main and pinion gear set up for durability and strength, a solid spool shaft to handle the loads with large bearings inside the spool and inside the side plates to ensure smoothness and durability under load. A large handle ergonomically designed, the newer models have the softer touch grips which are definitely more comfortable. The cage and reel foot is solid as is the anodizing on these american made models. You get a loud clicker for the noisy sea days or when those fish take off and everyone starts shouting fish on..... fish on....you will hear it running.
These are well made reels that will catch tons of fish if you look after your tackle if will serve you very well and for many, many years also. I have penns i service some are 30-40 plus years old and still looking great and catching fish, this attests to build quality of these products.
Have your reels serviced before the manic season starts, regards Jonathan.
