Grinders require more often servicing than multiplier reels for a number of different reasons.
Have a peek at this Saragosa 20 000 i got in to service. It needed some tlc.
These reels are water sealed. but when water gets in it does not easily get out leading to a host of problems thereafter.
These are of the most robust grinder reels for our type of fishing this model is used for shark fishing. They are very well made, have strong gearing, have strong twin drags, have large spool capacity, have large bearings, have a thick main-shaft, large handle that is very robust and ergonomically designed handle knobs. Bearings are in all the right places, it has a large anti reverse bearing to handle high loads and a double anti reverse dog pawl set up as well. You will note that all the boxes are ticked to do battle with large fish with reliability.

Grinders have their place now in all forms of angling be it rock and surf, boat fishing, spinning, jigging, sharking fishing or just paddle tail fishing.
Please note they do require care and need to be serviced on time especially with wading or swimming, i see this all the time.
